CHANCES at the MCA
Queer dance night Chances Dances hosted First Friday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago this past week. It was a glorious event with amazing performances, drag, all sorts of gender expressions, my favorite people. What a wonderful place for all of us to see each other and hang out - dancing and wandering around beautiful art and a gorgeous building.
I was really excited to see a whole Alexander Calder room. As many of you know, I have a Calder drawing tattooed on my forearm. I adore his work and was really happy to see the beautiful display.
This post isn’t really so much about the outfit as it is about just sharing this amazing evening, but I do think I looked pretty cute regardless. This new Kate Moss Rimmel Matte Lipstick #107 is my favorite new lip. I get so many compliments on it.

The holidays and shopping are fun for me. Did you buy anything fun for yourself? I bought myself some Dream Cream from LUSH and some new black skinny jeans from Macys.
bitchtopia writes about Torrid’s rebranding - disappointing that they’re pushing away their “alternative” clients and employees
*Not well so far apparently - hah! I intended to post this on Friday.
Day-to-Night Plus size IGIGI Garnet Dress
Finding plus size dresses that transition for both work and party is always a challenge. This beautiful Garnet wrap dress from IGIGI does just that.
I’ve styled it here as I wear it for work with tights, simple jewelry and my great Vince Camuto bag that fits a iPad or laptop. To switch it up for a party or for cocktails, just add a fun jacket and a bold necklace.
I love wrap dresses for the office. They’re flattering and easy to wear and I always feel pretty in them. They’re good for business casual and business professional environments.
Also - since I’ve had folks ask about it, I do really love the look of peeptoe shoes with opaque tights. As long as they’re a different color than the shoes!
Garnet Wrap Dress in Crystal - IGIGI - Sz 12 (do check their sizing! - I normally wear a 16 and I’m a 12 in IGIGI sizes!). Available here.

Sweater Dress and shopping in Chicago
Shopping during the holidays can be a little much for me (I get crazy bad anxiety in crowds), but I wanted to support some local shops on Shop Local Saturday. So I ventured out in this warm H&M sweater dress I’ve owned for ages and this lovely TwoJ’s Fencer Jacket and my super comfortable boots. Shopping was a huge success - I got a few locally made letterpress cards, and a few small gifts for my family.
What local/small businesses are you shopping at this year? I recommend the great businesses listed on my Logan Square post. In the next few days, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite etsy and online shops!
