This palm-print Dorothy Perkins dress ticks almost everything I want in a summer dress. It features an adorable but not over-the-top print, wide straps (I can wear a bra!), perfect knee-length (I can wear bike shorts under to prevent chub-rub), breathable fabric. It’s just perfect. The only thing it doesn’t have is pockets, but I’ll let that go because the rest of it is so fantastic.
It’s a great plus size summer dress and I wore it on a hot sunday to run to the farmers market to buy some gorgeous fresh veggies and flowers. The photos are inside because my partner S who usually takes my pics is out of town - I think they still turned out well!
I hope you all had a beautiful weekend (and a long one for my US readers).

When Old Is New
I am sure you all know how difficult it can be to find cute plus size vintage pieces. A good vintage dress with the right accessories can be a perfect staple in any wardrobe.
I was thrilled to discover Stranger Bird Vintage an etsy shop that features a wonderful selection of plus size vintage pieces. This lovely black lace-sleeve dress jumped out at me specifically and I’m so happy to own it. Since it still isn’t actually warm in Chicago, I’ve paired it with a light scarf and boots.

I am super excited to wear those shorts with some cute tights and that faux fur coat is just to die for. It reminds me of Courtney Love circa 1995

Hard shoes and lace tops
Oh a lace top…so much to say about something so dainty and yet so tough. Ahem.
I found this sea-foam green lace sweatshirt at target last week and just knew it would work with some other pieces in my closet. I love the mix of the pale color with a sweatshirt cut. My only wish is that it was a true crew-neck so I could wear it with a button-up collar shirt and have it look just the way I want it to.
I’m JUST SURE y’all are sick of these black skinny jeans, but I swear it’s 12 degrees today and I just can’t be bothered with anything else at the moment. So just know that I’m going to show you what I’m really wearing here - not just outfits that are exclusive for the blog. REALLY REAL here.
This scarf is one I found at dorothy perkins a few months ago and it looked so much like one I was obsessed over at topshop that was 3x the price, so of course I grabbed this one for myself.
Not too bad for a winter weekend look, eh?

Triangle Wedding at the Rothko Chapel, Houston TX
This weekend S and I attended the wedding of two amazingly beautiful and talented folks. The bride wore an avant garde gray/pink smoke pattern McQueen, the groom wore a skinny gray suit. They looked beautiful. And the ceremony was held at the Rothko Chapel - one of the loveliest spaces in Houston.
I knew that I needed to look really chic at this affair. S and I have been planning our outfits for months. I searched for months for the perfect necklace to wear - I debated getting a Zana Bayne harness, but after funds not allowing for it (and her being at fashion week the week I was going to order), I decided to look for something else. I searched on etsy and found this weird and beautiful brass body harness from seller LovMely. I showed it off on a simple ruched body-con dress from dorothy perkins. Basically I just wanted the necklace/harness to be the show stopper. And it was.
S wore a tailored slim-cut suit from H&M, Gucci shoes, patterned socks from Target. His body chain we found in the clearance bin of H&M, but it looks so weird and boutiquey.
