Almost Wedding Photos

Some of y’all may know that I’m getting married in Houston this weekend - omg! I’m really excited to share little bits of that day with everyone, but wanted to show off this cool pre-wedding  shoot that we did.  S and I wanted stark/graphic outfits to go along with the amazing public art in Houston. I added pops of color like the belt and bracelet. These photos by RS Photography turned out perfectly!

Palm Sunday

This palm-print Dorothy Perkins dress ticks almost everything I want in a summer dress.  It features an adorable but not over-the-top print, wide straps (I can wear a bra!), perfect knee-length (I can wear bike shorts under to prevent chub-rub), breathable fabric.  It’s just perfect.  The only thing it doesn’t have is pockets, but I’ll let that go because the rest of it is so fantastic.

It’s a great plus size summer dress and I wore it on a hot sunday to run to the farmers market to buy some gorgeous fresh veggies and flowers. The photos are inside because my partner S who usually takes my pics is out of town - I think they still turned out well!

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend (and a long one for my US readers).

Animal Print and Stripes and Brunch

Sunday brunch in the neighborhood calls for a summer spin on a favorite outfit. These new bermuda shorts from the plus size line at target are just the right length for me to feel comfortable (I don’t care for short shorts or capri styles).

Of course I also had to try out my new animal-print glasses from SelectSpecs.  These adorable frames with lenses were under $20!  What a bargain!!!  I highly recommend them for those of you who wear a lot of glasses and like to have variety.

A sprinkle saturday

Can you believe this gorgeous plus size maxi from the pure energy collection at Target?  It’s such a great piece for summer.  The lining stops at the knee, so the dress feels so breezy floating around your legs as you walk.  My two best pals and I went bra shopping in the suburbs of Chicago.  We ventured out to amazing bra shop called Tina’s Closet.  Tina, the owner fits every single customer.  And not only does she do a great job of fitting, she also customizes bras as needed.  The stock is overwhelmingly great.  She has bras stacked up to the ceiling and she picks everything out. My friend L is in between band sizes, and her bras are all getting taken in - and it’s only a $5 additional charge!  She also has a great selection of plus size (and straight size) swimwear. I bought a perfect Wacoal strapless and a demi-cup t-shirt bra by panache.  Highly recommend the experience if you’re anywhere in the chicago area.

Before shopping though, I stopped by gaslight coffee and got this absolutely perfect sprinkle donut and a big glass of citron green iced tea.  YUM!!!

Gwynnie Bee the “netflix” for plus size clothes

I’ve raved about Gwynnie Bee all over my fb and instagram, but I had to show you what it’s all about!

I was wary at first - I didn’t think they had a really well-rounded selection and items seemed not really my style.  However, as they’ve grown and expanded, I am happy to report that I just absolutely love them.

I do the 3-items-at-a-time option which is perfect for my needs.  A lot of my work wear has been gwynniebee and I’ve already purchased two of the items I’ve received (you have the option to buy items for much less than retail and they usually offer additional discounts and sales too!)

This is a Jessica Simpson cap sleeve floral print dress.  It’s super cute and fits so well.  I paired it with some tights and my go-to waxed denim moto jacket from H&M. Perfect for spring!

If you haven’t already checked out the month-free trial of Gwynnie Bee, I would love to encourage you to try!  Referral link here*.
