Lace and Tulle for the New Year
First of all - HAPPY NEW YEAR my dear readers! InTheThickofIt has grown like CRAZY this year. Thank you as always for the continued support and love.
Since moving in with S, I have really had to edit my closet as I have much less space than in my old place. I started to feel like I was wearing the same 10 things over and over again - and while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, I just started to feel like I was in a bit of a rut on many levels. So on new year’s eve, I decided to do a little shopping for some new outfits.
I’ve been looking for a new skirt and this sweet layered skirt from forever 21+ just called my name. It’s 3 layers - a black fitted layer with a layer of cream lace and then topped with a light pink tulle. It’s a little bit ballerina a little bit figure skater, which is why i was determined to toughen the look up a bit with my cropped striped sweater from H&M and my studded leather jacket. It’s a great look for a snowy winter january day, don’t you think?

Leather Skirt and Pointy Boots
It’s turned quite cold here in Chicago and of course it’s getting dark at what feels like 3 in the afternoon. To keep my spirits up, I went shopping for some new things for the winter. I’m so happy with my new pieces!
I found this faux leather skirt at forever 21 and squealed when I saw it - i still don’t see it on their website. At this point, I’m thinking it was sent from heaven just for me. I’d been looking at a few leather skater-skirts online, but all were from the UK and I just didn’t want to wait - thank goodness I found this glorious thing. I paired it with a white button-up, a body chain from Top-Shop and these amazing Dolce Vita (for target) winklepicker booties (from 2010 that I found in perfect condition at a Buffalo Exchange).

The Jeffrey Campbell Chain ‘Gene’ Boots
So guys. I fell in love recently. With these boots. I’d been lusting after them for months and when I got an email from solestruck last week that they were available in my size, I dropped everything to purchase them immediately. I honestly cried when I put them on. They’re so beautiful.
This outfit is just something quick and nighttime casual…rest assured you’ll be seeing a lot of these boots.
