The Autumn Leaves the Autumn Dress

The time has changed, leaves are falling - it’s my favorite time of year.  And how pretty is the world coated in yellows, reds and golden browns? I’m keeping warm - enjoying drinking tea with lots of sugar and cream.  Like I do.

This long-sleeved black dress is a perfect LBD for cooler weather.  It pairs perfectly with warm tights, a velvet tassel scarf and a great jacket.  This is a great basic that can be worn so many different ways.

Out of this World ICE CREAM!

It’s hot and my favorite way to spend any day is getting ice cream at the Tastee Freeze. Because YES ICE CREAM. Today was a small twist cone with SPRINKLES!

The dress you saw briefly before as it is the dress I wore to the recent ModCloth event.  I love the sheer panel and the cute galaxy print.  I paired it with my favorite Stone and Honey Titanium Quartz ring and some bright gold jewelry.

(i love the “fat” neon behind me!!!!)

Long Black Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses are a staple of my summer wardrobe.  They basically feel like wearing pajamas around all the time, but they look great. I found this piece in the maternity section of Target.  Sometimes maternity items end up looking too baggy in the front, but this dress just works really well.  I love the short sleeves and the pleating of the skirt portion.  This maxi can be dressed up a little too for evening - or made more casual for daytime.

Of course I had to put my spin on it and pair it with an extra long pentagram necklace by Black Swan Theory. I liked the coppery tone of the necklace and mirrored that in the brown sandals.

This was a fun look for walking around the local art festival this morning.

The Devil’s in the Details

Accessories can take any outfit from “just something i threw on” to an actual pulled-together look. I used to be annoyed  that sometimes the only thing I could ever find in a store was accessories, because they carried no clothes in my size, but the reality is that it’s allowed me to amass quite a collection of really cute accessories.  A good outfit has a mixture of colors, patterns and textures in the clothes and the accessories should also reflect that mix.

If nothing else, having some key pieces - a weird necklace or some big earrings that you can throw on that will upgrade an outfit is worth even a small amount of money.

And other thing - for those of you that wear glasses, they can be additional accessory that is fun to change up.  Over many years, I’ve added new pairs to my collection.

This skirt you’ve seen before, but I wanted to show you how I’ve paired it with some new accessories (and a new top!)

Hard shoes and lace tops

Oh a lace top…so much to say about something so dainty and yet so tough.  Ahem.

I found this sea-foam green lace sweatshirt at target last week and just knew it would work with some other pieces in my closet.  I love the mix of the pale color with a sweatshirt cut.  My only wish is that it was a true crew-neck so I could wear it with a button-up collar shirt and have it look just the way I want it to.

I’m JUST SURE y’all are sick of these black skinny jeans, but I swear it’s 12 degrees today and I just can’t be bothered with anything else at the moment. So just know that I’m going to show you what I’m really wearing here - not just outfits that are exclusive for the blog.  REALLY REAL here.

This scarf is one I found at dorothy perkins a few months ago and it looked so much like one I was obsessed over at topshop that was 3x the price, so of course I grabbed this one for myself.

Not too bad for a winter weekend look, eh?
